How is it possible for anyone to be a film maker today?

http://www.medialawyer.com

Independent film makers are growing in numbers day by day, new, pioneering work is being created by independent producers, directors, writers and crew. This means the film industry is becoming more and more accessible to the general public, but the question is, why is that?

Firstly I think we should discuss, what exactly is an independent film?

These are pictures designed and created for release in the cinema, on the Internet or other public/private screenings that are not produced and distributed by major company's such as Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. These can range from low budget films paid with personal funds, to larger scale films with provided budgets and finance.

It’s fairly safe to say Independent film making is only recently common. Compared to larger companies which require pitching and financial/legal agreements to be made, it allows a free range and unlimited possibilities to the independent filmmaker, without having to meet requirements or formalities beside there own. With improvements in technology itself and little in depth skill needed created an independent film becomes a easier process. Additionally with the prices of such equipment and resources becoming less and less, plus becoming more accessible in the market its easy to understand how more and more people are becoming film makers.
